How to Make A Link in Bio that Turns Followers into Customers

Did you know that having a beautiful and thoughtfully crafted link in bio page can actually draw more customers to your business?

As Instagram and TikTok have grown to be some of the most important marketing platforms to be present on, business owners have the unique opportunity to direct customers from interacting on their page to actually investing in their business.

However, as the saying goes, “With great power comes great responsibility.”

Having a link in bio page that is hosted on your website is a great way to keep a cohesive branded look to your Instagram profile, build brand recognition in trust as users interact with your site, and also help customers flow directly towards what you want them to do with your business - whether that’s purchase something, read a blog post, contact you, etc.

In this post, I’ll be walking through 3 important components to designing a link in bio on your website for your social media platforms to enhance your customer experience and stop losing customers when they click that link only to be met with confusion.

Make Your Link In Bio Page Look Simple but Brand Cohesive

Your link in bio is often a first “professional” business impression that you give to potential customers, so it’s important that you leave a lasting, positive impact through your site.

First, make sure that your link in bio is utilizing your brand color palette and typography - simple, but often overlooked!

Have your background as a lighter color, since most platforms people will be navigating from have a mainly light theme to them, and then create buttons that POP with your deepest and/or brightest brand colors.

I would also recommend putting a header at the top of your link in bio page with an image and quick summary of your business (like what you would put on your homepage - if you aren’t sure what that is, check out my post What To Say On Your Homepage).

This creates a break on the page from just text and buttons, as well as draws more interest from the user.

Don’t Overwhelm Your Link In Bio with Links

Although your link in bio is purely just for links, you actually don’t want to fill the entire page with tons of links.

People have a small attention span, so if they can’t find the link they are looking for immediately, they might give up (or become distracted by the initial reason they clicked your link in bio).

I would recommend having only 5-6 links on the page, only including your best offers, posts, services, etc.

You don’t need to include pages like your about page, or even a link to your homepage (because they can always access the main menu if they want to go to those pages).

I would also recommend even splitting your links up into sections - like services, posts, freebies, etc.  This creates breaks for the user’s eyes and also helps them more quickly find the exact link they are looking for.

Put Your Email Newsletter Signup In Your Link in Bio

I’m always a huge advocate for building your email list, so putting your email newsletter sign up form directly on your link in bio page is a GREAT way to attract more users to your community.

An email newsletter is an easy, free buy-in for people to start connecting more and learning from you before having to actually commit to purchase from you!

Plus, usually the newsletter form is only a couple of fields - so it won’t clutter up your link in bio page.

Hosting your own link in bio page creates brand recognition and an easy pipeline for your social media followers to transform from just a follower to an actual customer!

My challenge to you is to spend some time this month creating a link in bio page that serves you and your customers well - let’s build a site that you can be proud of!

And if you don’t have time to get this done (or have a pile of to do tasks to update your website), I would LOVE to work with you on your website with a VIP Website Day!
